About Bjaminoli

Bjaminoli is a social enterprise driven project, created by founders of Youth for Samegrelo Development & social café/youth space MegoBar. It is based in Zugdidi, Georgia which is the largest of 8 municipalities in Samegrelo region on the western side of the country, just 20km from the occupied territory of Abkhazia. The NGO focuses on sustainability, decentralization of resources, and providing youth with opportunities for non-formal education, mentorship, vocational skills, recreational activities, and cultural exchanges.

Our DJ Initiative

Before Bjaminoli project began, our young people had to travel to larger cities like Kutaisi or Tbilisi (2–4 hours away) to go to clubs and access the DJ scene, which is costly and not sustainable for students / young professionals. With crowdfunding, we were able to purchase professional DJ equipment and open a DJ school. Initially, it was led by 2 instructors from DJ School in Tbilisi who came to Zugdidi for 2 weeks for a full-time intensive course. During and after, students have free practice space in our social café. In July 2025, we graduated our 2nd cohort of DJ students, with graduating students from the first course now entering roles of mentorship and leadership development.

Georgian Hospitality

In Georgia, the culture is big on hospitality. The word “stumari” translates to “guest” and is considered an honor to be able to host. Our resources focus on our instinctive nature to take care of our guests, share our culture and traditions, and give you an access point into the area. Our local youth find it very exciting to have an international DJ come to play, so here, you can develop your practice by headlining our Bjaminoli club night, B2B with one of our DJ’s, or teach master classes. On the receiving end, you will have the opportunity to learn / practice vinyls, and co-create events of interest to you in our social café / bar that is open 7 days a week from 6pm-12am.

Professional photography (During club nights, these are run as “safe space” with no photography or video allowed; however, discrete photos can be taken of you while playing). Professional photography later time during your visit, based on request / interest.

Authentic Georgian cuisine & wine traditions – You will not leave without a huge appreciation for Georgian food, wine, and supra / toasting traditions. Georgia is one of the world’s oldest wine regions with an 8,000-year history of winemaking. You’ll experience traditional homemade wines, taste regional, and participate in Georgian toasting rituals led by a tamada (toastmaster) during traditional feasts.
Free accommodation in our hostel “Megohouse” (all guests), WIFI, food + drinks in Megobar, and food stipends throughout your trip (e.g. dinners with Bjaminoli staff)
- Hostel is equipped with beds/linens, TV, shower / bathroom, kitchen (propane stove, fridge, microwave, toaster, basic supplies), and washing machine.
